Will Video Games Infuence the Upcoming Tintin Movie
An interview Steven Spielberg did recently for Yahoo! Games is of interest to all those waiting for the Tintin movie release which is now predicted for 2010 after all the financial woes that have struck it. Spielberg remarked on the increasing crossover between movies and video games.
In the Yahoo! Games interview the legendry director observed how films are being influenced by video games explaining “: "I think filmmakers are learning things from video games.
Movies are starting to look more and more like video games, like the digital introductory teasers video games give you before they turn control over to the player.
"A lot of movies, like this movie with Angelina Jolie and James McAvoy called Wanted. It had a lot of video game savvy. The Bourne Ultimatum had a lot of video game savvy in the quick cuts and the audacity of camera angle."
The director went on to make known his interest in first-person-shooters and their cut scenes commenting "There have been a lot of games, including all the sequels for Medal Of Honour, that I've really admired".
"I love the direction it's taken. I also like the competitive games. I'm currently playing Call Of Duty 4. A lot of these first-person shooters are very interesting."
The reason that this is of interest to the Tintin fan is with Spielberg is scheduled to direct the first Tintin movie in the proposed Tintin film trilogy. The look of the film is going is going to use the same kind of technology that Peter Jackson (also involved in the project and scheduled to direct the second movie) used in the Lord of the Rings trilogy to bring Golum to life. This motion capture technology will allow Spielberg to quite easily bring video game influences to the big screen. I think the film will have a unique and interesting look.

Paramount and Sony In Talks To Finance Tintin Movie
The Tintin movie has hopefully found financial backing with Sony Picture Entertainment and Paramount Pictures in talks to co-finance the Tintin movie trilogy.
After eventually working out the legal ramifications of the Paramount/Dreamworks divorce Spielberg was desperate to find the backing for the Tintin movie project that he has wanted to
make for over 25 years. He approached Universal but they balked at the idea of a partnership on the first of what was hoped to be a Tintin movie franchise.
Paramount offered to fully back the movie with a reduced backend at $135 million for the two gross participants. When the filmmakers held out for a better deal, a partner became a viable alternative. It is now known that both Sony and Paramount are in talks although neither would comment.
Spielberg had first scheduled for production on the first Tintin movie to begin in September 2008 but without any backing leading to the loss of
Thomas Sangster as the lead to play Tintin the time frame had to be moved.
If the backing does come do fruition soon then it is believed that the first Tintin film can be completed on schedule so that is can be released in 2010 with the original plan for Jackson to direct the sequel.
The deal being thrashed out looks like that Paramount will distribute in North America and some other English speaking territories, while Sony would handle the foreign release of the Tintin movie thus “Tintin” would have no association with Dreamworks.

Tintin Movie - Thomas Sangster The First Casualty
The Tintin movie trilogy is still under scrutiny. The whole saga over the Tintin movie and its finances is fast becoming a calamity that could come directly out of a Tintin album. The Peter Jackson and Steven Spielberg project has been delayed due to an untidy split between Universal pictures and Paramount who were due to co-finance the Tintin project to the tune of US$135 million.
It trying to overcome the financial mess it appears that Paramount could be happy to back the whole project independently but under the condition that Spielberg and Jackson reduce
their take in the Tintin Movie project.
One casualty in this whole saga is Thomas Sangster who had been heavily rumoured to be the young man to play the main role of the Belgium boy detective who it now is believed has withdrawn from the project.
It is believed Thomas Sangster’s decision was based on the delay to the start of production that was supposed of have started this month.
The only other cast member confirmed in the Tintin movie project was Andy Serkis as Captain Haddock but my source www.stuff.co.nz doesn’t know whether Serkis is still involved which wasn’t confirmed or denied by those involved in the project.
We at www.letintinmovie.com will bring you more on this saga as we here it.
A Great Way To Spread The Word Of Tintin
After the wonderful contribution by Garbriel I thought I would continue on the international Tintin theme and bring to you’re an attention an article in The Times of India which has
a great piece on how Tintin has now been translated into Hindi. This seems like a great idea as it is well know that Indians go to the movies so much more per capita than anywhere else in the world.
I cannot say for sure how well know Tintin is known in India but the fact a Tintin movie will hopefully come out in 2009 (depending on financial backing) what great timing to introduce Tintin to a whole new audience then allow them to see Tintin on the big screen which will hopefully add millions of Tintin fans to those already from Timbuktu to Beijing.

What Tintin Means To A One Brazilian
Hi there Tintin fans I am proud to introduce our first guest writer who is a devoted fan of Tintin from Brazil. Gabriel got in touch with us and was excited by the prospect of letting other Tintin fans know how Tintin is seen in Brazil. As a result we have end up with Gabriel's first piece which is a little insight into how ther nations outside Europe can access Tintin.
A Tintin that you probably don’t know
As an eight years old Brazilian boy I truned on the television and BAM! “What cartoon is that?” I asked to myself. That is how I started my “relationship”
with Tintin. It was love at first sight! I really loved the way how Tintin fought against the crime and injustice all over the world (Tintin would be a moral cop in Brazil as he probably wouldn’t accept any bribe unlike the cops here!). I started to watch Tintin everyday on a local channel called ‘’TV Cultura’’ , nowadays Tintin isn’t present on free Brazilian television , the only way that Brazilian people can watch Tintin is on cable TV (HBO Family) that is very expensive here. That makes it kind of difficult to watch Tintin in Brazil for a average person.
Brazilian fans of Tintin have another problem, it’s very very difficult to find Tintin comics here! It’s almost impossible to find them in normal bookstores, I said ‘”normal” bookstores because here in Brazil we have some places that only sells old comics and books. That is the kind of place that I find the odd Tintin comic. The comics that I have are from the 80’s (I was not even born!). Another interesting thing is that it is really impossible to find ‘’Tintin In the Land of the Soviets’’ and ‘’ Tintin in the Congo’’ here though according to my research a long time ago a book company in Lisboa sent some copies of these two albums to Brazil. Today however those copies are probably just going to dust in some store room or other. I bought these albums via Amazon as there wasn’t another way to buy them.
So now I think that you guys know a little bit more about what is Tintin means to us in Brazil!
I try to spread the word of Tintin and am looking forward to the Tintin Movies.

Tintin Movie Motion Capture Technology Boost
The Tintin trilogy will be shot entirely in using motion capture technology which will be processed in New Zealand at the Weta workshop which was co-founded by Peter Jackson. You will recognise Weta work on the Lord of the Ring Trilogy.
The technology that brought Gollum to life will be used on the new Tintin movie project. This huge Tintin project has just got a boost because Weta Digital recently announced the
completion of a new “extreme density” data center featuring HP’s new 2-in-1 server blades, which combines two server in a single energy-efficient blade. Weta is running four computing clusters, each equipped with 156 of HP’s Proliant BL2×220c server blades, which hold spots 219 through 222 on the current Top 500 list of the world’s fastest supercomputers
Ok, so that sounds a little technical but it is all good news for Tintin fans because it means that this powerful computing will be used to create a wonderful looking Tintin movie. The vision of Jackson/Spielberg combined with these mighty computers to process the data from the motion capture camera will lead to great cinema.
