The Direction of the Third Tintin Movie

In recent publicity for the release of his new film Indiana Jones and  The Crystal Skulls Steven Spielberg revealed more about the Tintin Movie project. It has been well known that they were to each direct one of the films each with Spielberg the first.

There has been plenty of speculation about the third Tintin film with a number of directors rumoured to be involved. However Spielberg has said "We are going to make three Tintin movies back-to-back. I'll direct the first one; Peter will direct the second one. We'll probably co-direct the third one."

Spileberg has been a Tintin fan for a number of years but Spielberg had never heard of Tintin till 1981, when a film critic compared his first Indiana Jones adventure, Raiders of the Lost Ark, to the books. He has since publicly shown much admiration for the works of Herge and has for the longest time wanted to turn the albums into movies but only recently has the technology been available for Spielberg recreate the feel of books.
